The radial dial was specifically requested by NASA engineer James Ragan.
An easy-to-read dial, counters with large radial numbers and due to the “Buy American Act”, the traditional “Swiss Made” does not appear on the dial.
In the 1980s, NASA received an initial batch of 56 Speedmaster, with these special dials, which were used aboard the Space Shuttle.
